Pipes of Peace is a song written by English musician Paul McCartney, released as the title track on his 1983 album of the same name. It was also released as a single in December 1983 and reached number 1 on the UK singles charts for two weeks. The song also reached number 1 on the Irish singles chart. The basic track was recorded on 10 September 1982 at AIR Studios, with orchestral overdubs added later, probably at the same studio. Paul McCartney plays piano, bass and knee-percussion, while tabla. Текст песни: Its A Tug Of War No No, Your Troubles Cease When You Learn To Play The Pipes Of Peace Its A Tug Of War No No, Your Troubles Cease When You Learn To Play The Pipes Of songs initially recorded during sessions for the Tug Of War album, Pipes Of Peace continued Paul's rich vein of song-writing form and included two massive hits, the Michael Jackson duet Say Say Say and the title track. The collaboration with Jackson then the biggest star on the planet thanks to the success of his Thriller album extended to another track, the breezy The Man. Lyrically, the album features Pauls thoughts on love, peace and the future, centred around the symbol of the pipes of peace. Some of that production occurred during the sessions for Tug of War, with roughly half of the record culled from outtakes from that album, but Pipes of Peace has a distinctly different feel than its predecessor, seeming fleet, adventurous, and modern, almost as an accidental riposte to the consciously classical Tug of War. Pipes of Peace is the fourth studio album by English singer-songwriter Paul McCartney, released in 1983. As the follow-up to the popular Tug of War, the album came close to matching the commercial success of its predecessor in Britain but peaked only at number 15 on Americas Billboard 200 albums chart. While Pipes of Peace was the source of international hit singles such as Say Say Say recorded with Michael Jackson and the title track, the critical response to the album was less favourable than that afforded to Tug of War. Background and structure. Upon its release, many were quick to not. Paul McCartney's team-up with Rihanna and Kanye West on FourFiveSeconds earlier this year was met with surprise and bewilderment by some, but if you go back far enough you'd see it's just par for the course in the mind of Macca. Ever since the Beatles covered the Cookies back in '63, McCartney has been testifying to his love of R&B. Smokey Robinson was like God in our eyes, he once said. There was a reason Billy Preston's Rhodes solo fit so perfectly in Get Back, after all. In McCartney's solo material, however, you have to fast forward to 1982's Tug of War and 1983's Pipes of Peace to hear how that R&B influence evolved in his distinctive sound.
